Low

Well, im not sure many people know, but i am in a band now, and this is taking up a lot of my free time, including training.

My training over the winter months has been ok, mixing in with my rugby training i have kept fit. My problem is after 3 races i have got slower! No weather excuses this time. My first race in the N.Athletics league match i did a respectable 51.00 seconds in the 400, my second race mid-may 51.34 and my last race end of may 52 seconds. I dont understand what is going on.

The only thing i can think of is that i am training with the group regurlary now. Last year i did my own training. I think Stuarts training is well thought out and has some good ideas and it obvoiously works for some of the younger athletes, but im not sure it works for me, or whether i have enough time to put into it (only being able to make mondays). Im not sure the quantity over quality matches my style. Doing 500m,400m,300m,200m,150m is doing nothing for my speed, maybe they do speed on thursdays? But i feel i am losing speed. I may revert back to my old workout from last year, which i posted, to try and salvage something from the rest of the season......

Its that time again!

Yep, that time to start thinking about the forthcoming Athletics season!

Im looking forward to it more than ever this year, partly because of my success in the 400m towards the end of last season acheiving a sub 50 time of 49.6 seconds.

I have been keeping myself fit by playing rugby, and have had the least injuries from a season yet, so i should be able to hit the track running...ahem....

Whilest at work , i sometimes browse the net looking for the latest training methods, and i am now convinced it is my glutes (arse) that need to be trained the most!

This guy, know as the glute guy reckons a sprinter should concentrate on the glutes far more than they do.

I have started to do some weighted hip thrusts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM9XXzVSbj4 in the gym and i already feel quicker, it may all be in the head. But i hope i have as much success using these as the deadlifts did for me last season when i achieved two pb's.
